Is it shameless to hope a certain bilingual iPaulonesian will translate this for me and leave a comment? Hmmm. Regardless, I won’t let it stop me from posting this image from the Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo, HI. I was drawn to photograph several of these stone whatever-they-ares. The contrast of the dark, kanji lettering and the textured stone really drew my eye.

Few weeks ago I went hiking after work with Scott and Sue at Los Liones. Even late in the day, it was really hot. By the time we stopped for an extended break, I sweating like the out of shape pig I am. During the extended break, we took the time to cool off and fool around a bit for the camera.

Chrispo called me while I was on my way home from REI with my new hiking boots. He asked me what brand I bought, and I didn’t know. Just because, this seems like the way to show him my shiny new Lowa Renegade II GTX boots toe to toe with my 10 year old Merrell Zephyr GTX.
