Woah hooooo!!! Sit back, relax

Woah hooooo!!! Sit back, relax and enjoy as I tell you about my Best Hockey Moment
of all time… In case you didn’t know, tonight was Game 4 of the
Stanley Cup Finals. Our little ‘ol Ducks playing the New Jersey Devils
at home. The game is tied zero-zero after 60 minutes of intense hockey.
Devil’s get the puck, come down on our goal, and jiggy makes a save.
The play goes the other way. Mike and I were in row J, so our view of
the far end wasn’t that great. I saw Chistov go hard to the far post,
almost getting a rebound, and the next thing I know the red light is
on, and the crowd is going crazy. Mike and I are jumping up and down,
high 5’s. Screaming, bedlam. I turn to the woman next to me, who I’d
spoken to briefly during the intermission before the OT, thinking I
might give her a high 5. Proud, and as happy as can be, she looks at me
and screams “That’s my Son!!

That’s where I’d like to end, but it’s not the whole story. This
next part isn’t quite as storybook but please keep in my mind the bad
view of the winning goal and bedlam (and 2 hard ciders and a beer which
I hadn’t mentioned yet). I said to her “Who? Chistov?” I thought it was
strange that Chistov’s mom would have a vaguely Canadian accent, but
heck, I thought he scored. With my nasty hearing problem (can’t hear
voices well when the ambient noise is high) working against proud Mrs.
Christov, on her third try to tell me loudly enough, I find I’m
actually sitting next to Mrs. Thomas, proud Mom of Steve who’d just won Game 4 for the Ducks.

I wish I could blog all night recounting stories and anecdotes I
learned from Mrs Thomas, but alas I barely spoke to her. Nonetheless,
it’s still extremely memorable. Here’s to Mrs Stumpy Thomas, the best
Mom in the Pond this night.

Oh, and the jury is

Oh, and the jury is still out on my new ipod.
I listened to it yesterday on the way to work. Then in the afternoon, I
went to show a coworker and it was dead. Took it home, successfully did
the ipod heimlick,
loaded some more tunes and charged it up. This morning, turned it on in
my car and a big fat zero.
