I am a Mac user

I am a Mac user turned to the dark side by games. Sites like this MacinBlog make me wish I could still be part of the Mac crowd. Maybe I'll buy a dreamcast and g4 and use my PC to host thompaul.org. Hmmm.

BTW, M:I 2 is a great James Bond movie. If you like the TV show, however, see Gladiator again before you take in the garbage that is mi2.

A coworker with amazing musical knowledge informs me "He Don't Care about Me" from the i-10 Chronicles is a cover of a Commander Cody & the Lost Planet Airmen song. Never heard of them, but their website leaves me with the impression I should have.

I just ran into ls and learned that my blog is a daily 'ritual' for her hubby. I felt compelled to make sure something fresh would greet him.

Boy it's nice to be

Boy it's nice to be home. I learned so many things on my trip this weekend. A quick list would include things like: LA to Utah is far, kids are amazing (not new, but always good to gather more evidence), Ute Lemper may fool you during a quick listen at the record store but she doesn't make good road music, BR5-49 and The I-10 Chronicles do make good road music, two big men jumping from the closet screaming 'Let's all go to the movies' will cause pain for the victim of this little surprise and lastly, Utah to L.A. on a Sunday afternoon is really far.

Movies. For the first time in many years, I saw 4 movies in 2 days! Besides the 21 hours of driving, it's pretty close to my ideal weekend. The Big Kahuna, Small Time Crooks, The Virgin Suicides and Shanghai Noon are all excellent movies. All get at least a 2 on the Paul movie-scale. I would say more, but it's late and I'm burnt out from my share of the drive home. (and I still have to go link to all this!)

Just got home from seeing

Just got home from seeing Battlefield Earth. Linking to their official site would be unfair to you the readers of iPaulo. This movie was terrible! Are you a SF fan worried that Titan AE won't be any good? Worried the year 2000 won't have any decent SF movies at all? Don't worry I have just the thing. See BE - heck, see it twice. Then any other science fiction you see this year will be great by comparison. Even Mission to Mars looks like Star Wars compared to BE. Avoid this movie like the plague it is.

Oh man! The traffic maps

Oh man! The traffic maps are back online, but they're terrible compared to the original graphical version. I have to click on about 6 different freeways now to find out what route would be fastest for me. Oh well. I guess one can't complain much about a free service.

Going out to all my

Going out to all my friends who are parents. Or just adults who are kids at heart. Or adults who still watch Sesame Street. This new show "Between the Lions" looks fun. (requires Quicktime - it's free) Why isn't this going out to any kids? The show teachs young kids to read, so obviously, they aren't reading iPaulo.

Oh, thank you zippyblog. You've shown the way to Realm of Redheads. This may be one of those destinations where I'm attracted to the concept of the site, but never actually go and surf it. After all, it looks like mostly teenagers; I like redheads but I also like to act my age.

Well, I was a bit

Well, I was a bit concerned about this next little post. It's a bit racey but I'm going to throw it up (so to speak) because sg the Wise said "don't censor yourself ... (iPaulo) is a lamppost!" Ok. Let the light shine! Beware - no nudity but it's the first amusing sexual thing to appear here. From zippyblog.

True to my word for

True to my word for once, that's that. iPaulo.com is a 9 Mb bouncing baby boy, which coincides with the birth of thompaul.org and paulthom.org. Why all three? I really liked the name iPaulo, but I also wanted to have a joint site with my brother and sister. The paulthom thompaul comes from the tendency of our family to get confused about which of us they're talking to. Now I have sort of ended up with two sites. I'm still not sure what's up with that although I plan to have fun figuring it out.

This may be my final

This may be my final blog from the old iPaulo. A new, even more vanity driven site with a hip name is coming very soon. Until then, read about who will try to fill what were rightfully Leonardo's shoes in Star Wars Episode II.

If Star Wars doesn't float your boat, perhaps fake dog boop will. (thanks mc) I had considered waiting blogging this until I had sent a few anonymous piles, but decided I had better not.

The web cops are coming for you! From a slashdot post today, this article in Forbes describes how people are being busted (not really, but...) for Napster.

If you're trying to do

If you're trying to do pages the 'right' way (like my bio), you'll know what a pain in the butt it is. Such a pain, I'm giving up. I'll learn as I go (from articles like this at glassdog) but for now I'm going to forge ahead. I'll update everything to be ccs-based and html4 compliant later.

Several people have complained about

Several people have complained about my bio being unreadable because the type is too small. Sorry. That happens with Netscape 4 or the Mac. I'm working on improving it, but for now, use Netscape 6 (or Mozilla) or IE4.x or IE5 (especially on the Mac).

For all you geeks out

For all you geeks out there interested in web server configuration, here's a cute page from apache.org. Notice the backoffice logo at the bottom of the page. Obviously, this was the result of a hack. full story in apache week.

the booge has it all.

the booge has it all. upside-down cats, blog content that isn't the typical netculture or web-comedy links, and nice design (credited to kellea, but it's not one of the linkware pages. did someone pay for their blog design? totally wild). I also looked at the kellea page again and found they have an excellent links page if you're looking for graphics.

Are bloggers underappreciated visionaries providing a much-needed service, or are they navel-gazers who are best left alone? Both? Neither?
Thanks to sg for this keen article at feed about blogging. I'd say I'm a navel-gazer.

Oh! I was wrong. It just took 3 hours for it to reach me. Not too shabby. Anyway, if you'd like to see the coolest 'Coming Soon' placeholder you'll ever see, check thompaul.org out. (fyi, thom is my brother)

Well, bummer, it looks like

Well, bummer, it looks like a missed the deadline for new virtual servers at the soon to be hosting provider of our family domain. So no fun 'Coming Soon' message tonight. Perhaps Brent's frogger will hold you over.

Oh shoot! Between evaluating new tape backup software at work and playing with graphics for the new domain at home, I totally forgot to blog about the weekend. Sunday afternoon was blast. It was Kevin's big 6th birthday party. For me, I have to say the highlight was the hula hoops. Seeing the dopey adults trying to do something they couldn't even do as kids (ahem...I guess I'm talking about me) was hysterical.
