After a couple bumpy flights

After a couple bumpy flights on the horrible MD-80, we're home from Ohio.

Oh, in the photo below

Oh, in the photo below (click the image for more), that's Gary (left) and a French Pot (right). A french pot is used in the making of hand made ice cream. I didn't understand this at all since it has a motor but heck... it's Ohio. Go Bucks!

It's been a great

It's been a great stay. It was a good feeling going to bed every night with a smile, although last night the smile didn't last quite as long because we were leaving in the morning. Plans have been made to visit again, including the two of them coming out to see the folks in LA. Well, Jeff is about to leave for work.. Better say goodbye.

I was going to post

I was going to post people pictures, but decided I'd rather spend the time with the Gary and Jeff than in the computer room editing pics. Wait till tomorrow. In the mean time, I'm going to blatantly bookmark www.photoshopusers.com and www.mactoday.com--both excellent sites about graphic design type stuff. The july/august issue of mactoday has a good article on large format printing.

I was going to post

I was going to post a couple more pictures, but I realized at the last possible moment they don't have any people in them. So, I'll wait until I have some people to show you...

Wow. What a couple days

Wow. What a couple days we've had in Columbus. As I said the other day, the weather isn't as cold as we expected. My long undergarments have gone completely unused in my bag. The Ducks' loss to the Blue Jackets hit Mike especially hard. Fortunately, Stinger the BJ's mascot followed us home and was able to console Mike in the front yard (kudos to jeff for the photoshop work!). Today we had brunch and drove around to see the hot tourists spots of Ohio, including the concrete corn field.

Then we ventured forth again and touched old Leatherface. Then we stood on his head and yelled Go Bucks! A moment of relaxation watching some ducks and geese and we were outta there!

Oh, I forgot to tell you. Check out Jeff's site.

Brrr.... At breakfast at 11am, it was a warm 33 degrees. After a few hours of warming sun, it's 29! And prrrty...here is the front of Jeff and Gary's house. Notice the icecicles (click for a larger version).

Hey! We're in Columbus visiting

Hey! We're in Columbus visiting Gary and Jeff! It's no where near as cold as I expected.

dyrk and sheila make a big splash with their new dotcom venture with pictures from karaoke night. Way to go! iPaulo needs to get busy or there will be a new home page in town for many iPaulonesians.

Well, here we go.

Well, here we go. Little Eileen Carol is finally on the web. That's her on the left...Tux is on the right. Eileen weighed 8 lb -12 oz and was a lanky 21". Tux's birthweight is a mystery.

Do you have friends who aren't connected to the net? Do they ask why they should get connected? The website BushorChimp is the reason of the month - it may be the reason of all time but that remains to be seen.

went to karaoke night at a bar to celebrate a couple birthdays. karaoke was intimidating, and I'm in awe of the mike, sean, raquel and kristin with the courage to do it. for the rest of us, this looks like a good place to practice your karaoke.

so, guess what? i think

so, guess what? i think my niece is the prettiest baby ever. big surpise, huh? i'm not biased, really. Pictures tonight. Till then, watch the fine iFilm called Lego Chef.

Ok, so...it wasn't my brother's fault. GranMa Phillabaum is a bit too frazzled to remember little details like the weight of her first grandchild.

Wooo Hoooo! As of today,

Wooo Hoooo! As of today, that'll be Uncle iPaulo to you guys... Eileen Carol was born this afternoon; a healthy 8 lbs (plus so many ounces). I would have more details, but my brother is in charge of getting the stats from the hospital and he's doing a typically male job of leaving out minor details. Pictures to follow after my trip up North this weekend with the digital camera.

Oh yeah. Battlestar Galactica! It's too much to hope for a new series with Vipers. However, there is the BSG Fanclub. Say hi to Boxey and Starbuck for me.

WOW! Talk about a jinx.

WOW! Talk about a jinx. I should have kept my mouth shut. I got an announcement from Google this morning they are discontinuing their affiliate program. Boo hoo. The gravy train will end Feb 1. Can we reach $25? Get your searching in quick

iPaulo is now soliciting opinions on alternate search engines and (begin maniacal laugh) other money making schemes (end laugh). I will continue to use Google. I like it and would use it regardless of the 1 cent commission. 8-) I've been thinking about joining buy.com's affiliate program. If iPaulonesians use the site as launching pad for their shopping for computer gear at buy.com, I could have real money in no time. Then a hosted, open bar party might actually be a reality. Send iPaulopinions.

Yahoo.... In 9 months, iPaulo's google search box has generated a whopping $21.43! Good job folks. Keep it coming. The dough is rolling in...fast! Like any good dotcom in these troubled times, however, we are burning through capital at an astonishing rate. Our net losses are over 50% and climbing. Venture capital is being whooed even as I write this. Wish us luck.

not to give away all

not to give away all the secret workings of iPaulo, but I'm hoping to find time for some redesign soon. sg suggested i look at eye candy underground for ideas. more designer-ish than i want in most cases but i was looking for inspiration not a cookie cutter idea. if you see a site you feel would inspire a better iPaulo, feel free to email me.

ok. blogger has been really

ok. blogger has been really slow for about 2 weeks. only through several attempts and many javascript time outs was i able to bring you the 1/2/01 issue of iPaulo. alas, there was an 1/4/01 issue. after painstaking writing, blogger's overloaded servers ate my post. i decided to wait for the blogger server fund to upgrade the blogbackend. they've been given an astonishing $10k so far and a new server is now load sharing. so updating ipaulo is no longer the tedious nightmare it has been recently.

sadly, the 1/4 issue which never appeared told you in a very timely manner the whole monolith thing is just a marketing idea for a rerelease of 2001. oh well. art, shmart, let's make some money and if public officials can be paid to lie to the press in the name of making a buck, great!

for fun, check out the van gogh-gogh's site (the site is dead but this is a good link. try later). fans of the 80's band the stray cats should go to leerocker.com. that's it for now.

Here we go. Commuting is

Here we go. Commuting is good for something...fun news stories for iPaulo. 2001 is a great book and a movie with great space toys. Inspiring enough to an artist to build a monolith to usher in the new year. It made a big splash in local news with a second story and then mysteriously disappeared. (3 different links) I regret none of these links include pictures so the written word will have to do--kind of fitting actually.

Where have I been? Obsessed

Where have I been? Obsessed with Everquest of course. My mind continues to rot during hours of computer gaming. Oops.

Let me shout this from the rooftops: Owners of old televisions need not buy a new tv to enjoy many of the benefits of DVD's. Don't listen to the twits at the store. You can use a $30 RF modulator from Radio Shack. If you've been gunshy about forking out the cash for a new tv and dvd player, just buy the dvd player now. This came up with two people recently. I'm thinking there are more people out there who might like this kind of thang.
