First post in movable type

I spent a good bit of the weekend moving iPaulo.com from blogger to movabletype. A good bit of the time was spent converting the old entries to be valid XHTML. I discovered a lot of broken links from 2000 & 2001. Not sure I'll go back to fix those. I need to finish quite a few things, like the iPaulo movie reviews, logo and image thingy. Hopefully, I'll come up with a cool way to do the image thingy so it's not so stale.

My favorite thing so far about movable type would have to be titles. At first I thought they would really suck. Now, I'm really looking forward to using them. As I was making the old entries valid XHTML, I added proper titles to several entries. Titles are another way to be clever... My least favorite thing would have to be the entry editing tool. Blogger's had features like links, bold, etc. I'm sure it won't be hard to find something for mt but it's no fun even typing this entry.

iCapture

Oh boy... (Geek alert!) As they say at iCapture, the 3% hereby declare "we too have a browser". Check out kalsey.com for a nice blog.

Wicked

Nifty! The thing I find so striking in my favorites parts of Wicked CD is exactly what the Witch herself - Idina Menzel - sites as her favorite moment. "I love singing the duet with Kristin at the end because I'm always in awe of how different our voices are, and yet, when we sing together in unison, how wonderfully they blend." (full interview with Ms Menzel) Holy Cow! On Broadway, this show grosses $1 million a week!

Bill Gates with Mouse Ears?

Mickey Gates? I wonder what it will like at Disney if Comcast and (their "silent" partner) Microsoft can finish the deal. Bill Gates wandering around Imagineering asking questions like "Is there anything you can teach me about security we can work into Windows?"

Dreamers

Oh, and what a bummer. My longest streak (3 in row) of full iPaulo movies came to an end last night watching Dreamers. Unless I horribly misjudged his reaction, Myk's whopping 13 :) movie streak came to an end as well on Friday the 13th. Sad but fitting.

Iraqi Rewards

Is it just me, or does the Iraqi Rewards Program on guad:)spot sound entirely too much like the Discover Rewards Program? Frightening (yeah, I know! it's the cashback program now but they changed the name a bit ago)

The Company

Carol and I saw The Company last night. What a movie! This is one of those movies where I wished the iPaulo scale had more letters!! Neve Campbell (btw, what kind of name is Neve?!) , who trained with the National Ballet of Canada before turning to acting, was good although I was waiting for a 3 way ala Wild Things for about half the movie. The dancing was amazing. Each dance sequence was short, beautiful, and cinematically just plain interesting. Add the context from the behind the scenes stuff leading up to each sequence, and I was totally enthralled by ahem.. ballet. I read a view blogs by people who were ballet fans who didn't like the movie very much. But to me, a complete ballet neophyte, it was great (btw, Fog of War was also an ipauloooooooo movie!)

Fog of War

Mike's thoughts on Fog of War over on guad :) spot summed things up pretty well.

LA traffic map

Sweet LA freeway status.

Miracle

I enjoyed this movie. From a movie making standpoint, I thought the ending was a bit sudden. Otherwise, a darn good movie; probably the best hockey movie.

Batting Practice with Penguins

Get in touch with your inner yeti (and some penguins!). Penguins?! I hear this was written by people who hate linux as a response to the MyDoom virus's attack on SCO.
