Manchurian Candidate

I got mixed reviews from friends on this movie, but I went anyway. It wasn’t memorable, but I did enjoy it.

Collateral

My first summer in SLO, a friend’s roommate had her car break down while driving home. She was scared to death, and called us for help. So, of course, I rushed out to save her racing 🙂 along at 85-90 mph along hwy 101. I explained this to the CHP officer who pulled me over for speeding. He wrote me up for a much lower speed, and said I should have just called the CHP. Duh. So, to Max (Jamie Foxx) — you should have used your cell phone battery time to call 911 first!! If you had, you would have gotten the ‘o’.

Bourne Supremacy

Mike, Sean and I had some great Thai food Friday night at a place called Torung in Hollywood. It’s got a B rating, but not to worry. The food is spicy enough, any vermin would surely be killed. Unless they are thai vermin. Hmmm. Nonetheless, I agree with citysearch.com, 9.5/10. Great food, good service, and btw, citysearch insider’s are clueless… parking at Mobil across the street is paid for by the restaurant. If you don’t see street parking right way, Torung insider’s know to go to the mobil.

Oh, the movie was good too. The Dome was awesome as always.

Anchorman

I laughed. Most of the time, the laughs were more forced than during the recent classic, Dodgeball. Still, I laughed.

Fahrenheit 9-11

So it isn’t an unbiased documentary. Maybe some, even most, people come away with the false belief everything in the movie is true. So what. Those people are lost to the democratic process anyway! If some of the rest of the folks come out of the movie more interested in knowing what’s going on, it was a success.

Spider Man 2

I think the positive, glowing reviews of this movie ruined it for me. Maybe it was the best action movie ever, but it didn’t seem like it to me. Good, even great, but the always capricious ipaulo rating for this movie takes a hit from hype.

Dodgeball

It might kill Sonia to see this, but Dodgeball was great! Keys to watching this movie: have a margarita, go with great buddies, leave your spandex at home. I’m not sure if it can beat Miracle for best sports movie of the year, but it is good light entertainment to cheer you up after you’ve seen F9/11.

The Terminal

This movie had a few weird elements for me. I’m not sure I bought into Tom Hank’s quick study of english through TV news tickers. CZJ was an unsympathetic and in some respects uninteresting character for me. There were good laughs, but something seemed hollow. I will probably need to see this again on DVD to make a final judgement.

Shrek 2

An almost amazing flick. I found some of the visual qualities of the characters very distracting. I think it was partly due to the lame AMC Santa Monica theater we were in. I’m spoiled by digital projection, brand new theaters, the arclight, etc. And I hate commercials at the movies. Right off the bat, my movie watching experience turns ugly watching ad after ad. Oh well. Like i said, almost amazing. If you loved Shrek, you’ll definitely like Shrek 2.

Harry Potter 3

Maybe Natalie Portman could have improved this movie, but other than that, I’m not sure what cuold. Good ‘ol Hagrid.
